Sixth-place finish in Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles
Fresh off announcing his plans to run the tour full time, Mike Marlar was one of 51 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries amassed at Golden Isles Speedway (Brunswick, Ga.) on Thursday for the General Tire Super Bowl of Racing.
After missing a transfer spot by one car in his heat with a fourth-place outing, Marlar stormed into the opener with a fourth-to-first run in his consolation race. With a $10,000 top prize up for grabs, Mike gained three spots in the 40-lap affair to finish 16th.
With wet weather washing out Friday’s program, Mike stopped-the-clock second-fastest in his 25-car group on Saturday before placing first in his heat. Starting the $25,000-to-win Super Bowl of Racing finale in third, Marlar held onto finish sixth in the 60-lapper after making contact with another competitor while battling for the lead on lap 36.
With two events in the books, Marlar sits ninth in the LOLMDS point standings.
