Marlar rebounds with $10,000 World of Outlaws victory at U.S. 36 Raceway

WINFIELD, Tenn. (10/25/22) – Mike Marlar masterfully navigated lapped traffic to score the $10,000 World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series victory on Sunday evening at Missouri’s U.S. 36 Raceway aboard his Delk Equipment Sales / Tri-Rivers Enterprises No. 157 Can-Am Auto Salvage / Longhorn Chassis / Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model. Additionally, Marlar finished fourth in the WoO weekend opener on Friday evening at Humboldt Speedway and added a new track record on Saturday night at 81 Speedway.

“I enjoyed our weekend in Kansas and Missouri. We got behind early at Humboldt (Speedway) on Friday night, but we had a great car in the feature and passed 13 cars to finish fourth. We hit the ground running with a new track record and a heat race win at 81 Speedway on Saturday. We were fast in the feature, but a mechanical failure took away any chance at a win,” Marlar said. “On Sunday night we were at the home track of one of our sponsors, Mark and Kim Dotson with Tri-Rivers Enterprises, and Mark gave me some great pointers on how to get around that place. We caught Chase (Junghans) in lapped traffic and got to the lead and got the win.

“It was a fun time all three nights, and I look forward to going back out that way next year to race. Thanks as always to everyone who supports our team.”

Mike Marlar returned to the road on Friday afternoon with a visit to Humboldt (Kan.) Speedway for a tripleheader weekend with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series.

In a field of 38 cars, Mike followed up a fifth-place showing in his heat race with a consolation victory. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in 17th, Marlar marched through the field 13 spots in the 40-lap affair to register an impressive fourth-place finish. He trailed Chase Junghans, Dennis Erb Jr., and Max Blair to the checkers with Gordy Gundaker coming in fifth.

For the second round of the Rick Eshelman Kansas Tribute Tour on Saturday at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kan.), Marlar topped the 34-car field in time trials before placing first in his heat race.

Receiving the fourth-starting position for the feature via the redraw, Mike lost an oil pump belt on lap 23 while running fourth that sidelined him for the remainder of the 40-lapper.

On Sunday afternoon at U.S. 36 Raceway (Osborn, Mo.), after the crew swapped motors, Mike secured his spot into the finale with an eight-lap heat race victory.

Overtaking early pacesetter Chase Junghans on lap 26 amid lapped traffic, Marlar dominated the remaining 14 circuits to secure his 13th win of the season and 12th- career World of Outlaws triumph.

He collected a $10,000 prize ahead of Chase Junghans, Tyler Bruening, Dennis Erb Jr., and Ryan Gustin.
