Marlar notches top-10 in Tennessee Tipoff opener at Smoky Mountain
Mike Marlar made an in-state visit to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) over the weekend to compete with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series for the rain-shortened Tennessee Tipoff.
Drawing 45 Super Late Models to the 3/8-mile oval, Mike topped his 23-car group in time trials before placing second in his heat. Chasing a $12,000 payday in Friday’s preliminary feature, Marlar lost one spot in 35-lapper to register an eighth-place finish.
Saturday’s Tennessee Tipoff finale fell victim to severe weather threatening the area.
