Sunshine Nationals brings Marlar to Volusia
Mike Marlar began his 2025 Florida Speedweeks campaign over the weekend at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) competing in the rain-shortened Sunshine Nationals.
Joining a stacked field of 56 World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series entries, Marlar got off to a slow start early but was able to qualify for Friday’s feature with a consolation victory. With a $12,000 preliminary payday up for grabs, Mike was an early retiree on the 10th circuit.
On Saturday, Marlar stormed into the $20,000-to-win Sunshine Nationals finale with a fifth-to-second showing in his heat race. Starting on the fifth row, Mike pulled off officially on lap 25 after drawing the first caution of the race on the third circuit.
