Mike Marlar notches ninth-place finish in Wild West Shootout opener
Mike Marlar entered his Skyline Motorsports No. 157 Late Model into battle at Vado (N.M.) Speedway Park over the weekend for the first two rounds of the 19th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts.
In Saturday’s preliminary action, Marlar backed up a runner-up heat finish with a ninth-place outing in the $25,000-to-win A-Main. Despite suffering a right-rear flat tire on lap 29, Mike drove from the tail to salvage a ninth-place finish.
Back at the 3/8-mile oval on Sunday, Mike laid down the second-fastest time in his group before placing first in his heat. After contending for the top spot early in the feature, Marlar faded to finish 14th at the checkers.
