Mike Marlar rolls to runner-up finish in Volunteer 50
Mike Marlar made an in-state visit to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) on Friday to compete in the two-day event celebrating 50 years of racing at the Tennessee oval.
In his prelim on Friday, Mike followed up the third-fastest qualifying lap in his 21-car group with a third-place finish in his 25-lap preliminary.
Starting Saturday night’s $50,050-to-win Volunteer 50 in fifth, Marlar muscled forward three positions in the 50-lap affair to register a second-place finish. He trailed race-long pacesetter Dale McDowell to the checkers with Brandon Overton joining the podium.
