Runner-up outing in second round of Wild West Shootout at Vado
Aboard the Skyline Motorsports No. 157 Late Model entry to kick off the 2024 season, Mike Marlar was one of 44 Late Models entered at Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) on Saturday for the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout opener.
After topping his 22-car field in time trials, Mike raced into the A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat. With an $11,000 top prize up for grabs, Marlar gained four positions to finish sixth.
On Saturday, Marlar followed up the third-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a heat race triumph. Surrendering the lead to Bobby Pierce on lap 37 of the feature after leading laps 2-36, Mike rolled to a second-place finish with Tyler Erb rounding out the podium.
