Mike Marlar grabs a pair of top-10's in Wild West Shootout weekend opener
Mike Marlar trekked west to Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) on Saturday afternoon to kick off the 2023 campaign with the 17th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout.
With 48 Late Models amassed for the first round of six, Mike’s third-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the fifth row for A-Main. With $10,000 on the line, Marlar clawed forward one spot in the 40-lap affair to register an eighth-place finish.
On Sunday, Marlar edged his way into the main event with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. Battling for another $10,000 payday in the 40-lapper, Mike passed nine cars to finish sixth.
