Fifth-place finish in Bristol Dirt Nationals opener

Mike Marlar returned to action on Friday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) aboard the Delk Equipment Sales No. 157 for the second annual Bristol Dirt Nationals. Drawing 37 XR Super Series entries for the two-day event, Mike edged his way into the opening night feature with the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his heat. With $50,000 on the line, Marlar advanced through the field 11 spots in the 50-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. For another $50,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, Marlar came in seventh-fastest in his group before placing fourth in his heat. Starting the feature in 13th, Mike clawed forward two spots in the 50-lap affair to place 11th.
